can you hear me? can you hear me now?

Tomorrow, Zachary will be having a hearing test. We KNOW he can hear...NO. DOUBT. ABOUT. IT!

Once, in the vehicle, Trevor wispered, 'Zachary' to me and Zachary in a different row from Trevor, says 'HUH?' lol

There may be a question of having fluid that won't budge in his ears, causing a problem.

Anywho....

Zachary has been receiving speech therapy for a month now. They come to our house and spend about an hour with him once a week. Mrs. J is great with him...even when he yells, 'STOP!' at her!

Early Steps was suppose to have a hearing test done to rule out anything before therapy even started and it wasn't done. When i questioned them about it, they said they weren't sure when it would be done, so we decided to have it done now.

He is only behind in his expressing with words. He understands everything, he does what is asked of him.... he just can't SAY what he wants, or if he does, most do not understand him.

I know it's never good to hope they find something but in this case....

i hope they find something that could be fixed easily (like fluid in his ears) and that it can be done quickly and we see a HUGE improvement in his speech!!

Aw another thing we have in common. C didn't talk until he was 3!! Yes he said words like mom, moo (he loved cows) and other simple words and when he did start talking no one could really understand him. I had to fight to get him into speech therapy because they kept telling me he was to intelligent to have a speech problem (DUH!!). He did therapy from pre-school till 2nd grade and now you would never know he had an issue (a BIG issue!!). They chalked alot of it up to all his ear infections when he was little that he couldn't hear properly to be able to start forming the words!

Hope everything works out with Zach. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and someday you'll be wishing he would just stop talking!
